I participated in the annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk in St. Charles this morning. I missed last year because I was in the hospital, I can’t even remember why, just another METS related episode.
This year I won’t forget though, I’ll remember the walk, I’ll remember the sight of the water under the bridge I walked over. I’ll remember the warmth of the sun and the friends I was walked with. I’ll remember this year because yesterday I got the call. My college roommate called to tell me that one of our sorority sisters had passed on. Her name is Chantel and she had METS.
As I walk I recall her many roles in life. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a friend, an artist and an educator and probably, many more roles I didn’t know about. I know she was an encourager and supporter of others, I know that first hand. Now she has another role, now she is part of that great cloud of witnesses that surrounds her fellow believers in Christ. As I continue to walk through METS, I’ll remember. Thanks Chantel.
