In Honor of Chantel

I participated in the annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk in St. Charles this morning. I missedWalk 2015 last year because I was in the hospital, I can’t even remember why, just another METS related episode.

This year I won’t forget though, I’ll remember the walk, I’ll remember the sight of the water under the bridge I walked over. I’ll remember the warmth of the sun and the friends I was walked with. I’ll remember this year because yesterday I got the call. My college roommate called to tell me that one of our sorority sisters had passed on. Her name is Chantel and she had METS.

As I walk I recall her many roles in life. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a friend, an artist and an educator and probably, many more roles I didn’t know about. I know she was an encourager and supporter of others, I know that first hand. Now she has another role, now she is part of that great cloud of witnesses that surrounds her fellow believers in Christ. As I continue to walk through METS, I’ll remember. Thanks Chantel.Chantel

  1. Chantel was a wonderful person. A real sweet human being. I cannot count the number of nice things she said to me and to some of our other classmates at Lindblom. Chantel will be greatly missed and never forgotten. God bless you Chantel!

We were colleagues at NCAT …. She was a great person… We shared many laughs… We worked long days together… Travelled together … And even went on fun outings together…I miss my friend… But know she’s enjoying her peace!! Her faith was so strong… Till we meet again Chantel…
